After graduation from the University of Kansas (1968), Nancy devoted nearly 50 years of her life in service of the most vulnerable and often overlooked children in society. Nancy’s career was not just a job—it was a calling. She was an advocate and source of unwavering support, compassion, and hope for countless children, and was cherished by colleagues for her warmth and wisdom.
Nancy’s greatest joy was her family. Her home was always full of laughter and encouragement, especially during the holiday season where family gatherings often took place. She was the matriarch and heart of her family, a source of strength, love, and guidance. Her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught, the lives she touched, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Nancy is predeceased by her husband, Randy R. Jensen, her parents, Virginia J. and Robert G. Oberlander, her sister Susan McNeil, and her grandparents, Lola and Howard Krimminger. She is survived by her former husband Richard Schroeder, three beloved sons—Todd (Rose), Ron (Kate), and Burke—and by her cherished grandchildren.
A private family service will be held to honor Nancy's life. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to UNICEF, KC Pet Project or a charity of your choice.
