

Nancy Jane Broadaway McQueeny, 88, died peacefully, surrounded by family, in Overland Park, Kansas on December 26, 2017. Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, she lived most of her life in Kansas City. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael J. McQueeny, Sr., who passed away in 2006. She attended St. Teresa’s Academy and Mount St. Scholastica College (now Benedictine University). She was a loving wife and mother, superb homemaker, stern taskmaster, seamstress extraordinaire, real estate expert and avid traveler. She also was an enthusiastic volunteer for Notre Dame de Sion, Rockhurst High School and the Ladies of Charity, Kansas City. She will be missed by all who loved her. She leaves behind six children and their spouses, Kathleen A. McQueeny and Jack B. Franaszek, Michael J. McQueeny, Jr and Julie Porras McQueeny, T. Patrick McQueeny and Lucia Johnson McQueeny, Elizabeth McQueeny Drew and Gerald P. Drew, Susan McQueeny Scholes and Paul Scholes, and Peggy McQueeny Lawler and Doug Lawler; fifteen grandchildren and two spouses, Peter McQueeny and Stephanie McQueeny, Patrick McQueeny, Christopher McQueeny, Anna McQueeny, Joseph McQueeny, Grace McQueeny, Eleanor McQueeny, Caitlin Drew Colteryahn and Mike Colteryahn, Alexander Drew, Thomas Drew, Molly Drew, Calaway Scholes, Hayden Scholes, Evelyn Lawler, Rose Lawler; and two great-grandchildren, Liam Colteryahn and Merida McQueeny. The family wishes to thank Michala and Mandy of Prairie Elder Care, and all of the PEC staff, for their excellent care of Nancy during the past two years. Services will be private.
