Nellie D. Riead

Nellie Riead, 101, Kansas City North, formerly of Clinton Missouri, died 11:30pm September 30, 2012. She was born in Amsterdam, Holland, March 27, 1911. At six months of age she immigrated to Iowa then to Detroit with her parents Cornelis and Hendrina Rens. They moved to Clinton, Missouri, where she met and married her husband John T. Riead.

John and Nellie lived 2 ½ miles north of Clinton and owned the Clinton Feed & Seed elevator in the 1940s. Nellie was a member of the Holy Rosary Society, Dinner for Eight, and the Twilight Garden Club.

Nellie is survived by five children, John T. Riead, Jr. of Cameron, Missouri; Dennis Riead of Dillon, Colorado; Judy Gantt of Lone Jack, Missouri; William Riead of Palos Verdes, California; and Alan Riead of Liberty, Missouri; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister Arlene Rens Lane of Clinton, Missouri.

Visitation will be Friday between 6:00-8:00 pm at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 Northeast Vivion Road, Kansas City, Missouri with a Prayer Service at 6 PM. Funeral Mass will be at St. James Catholic Church, 309 S. Stewart Road, Liberty, Missouri, Saturday October 6 at 11:00 am. There will be a luncheon at the parish following the service. Burial will be 4 PM Saturday at the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.
