Nellie Mae Monahan Walter

Nellie Mae Walter, 87, went to be with God April 19, 2014 at the Villages of Jackson Creek, Independence. Visitation will be Tuesday April 22, at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 E 47th St, KCMO from 6 pm to 8 pm with the Rosary being prayed at 7 pm. Mass will be held Wednesday, April 23 at 10am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO with interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Nellie Monahan; the love of her life, her husband, LeeRoy H. Walter; two grandsons & a granddaughter. She leaves behind two daughters; Mary Stranimier (Frank), and Paula Walter; six sons and their spouses; Michael (Sasha), David (Diana), John, Mark (Jill), Robert (Kim) & Chris (Jackie). She was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was loved by all and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your local ASPCA. A special heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Villages of Jackson Creek for the love, kindness & exceptional care that they gave Nellie during the 5 years that she lived there.
