Nelson “Leroy” Conner, 90, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Overland Park, passed away August 9, 2012. Visitation will be held from 10:00-10:30 a.m. Monday, August 20, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, followed by a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mr. Conner was born September 30, 1921 in Benton, Illinois, son of Nelson A. and Britania (Price) Conner. He grew up in Iron County, Missouri and was a graduate of Annapolis High School in 1939. In 1942 he joined the U.S. Army, serving in France and Germany in the 13th Armored Division as a Communications Specialist. In 1948 he married Meda Orvillene Hultz; they enjoyed 52 years together. Mr. Conner retired from AT&T as a Senior Communications Engineer after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of American and of the Overland Trailblazers of Overland Park. He was preceded in death by his wife Meda O. Conner, sons Michael L. Conner and Richard A. Conner, and brother Robert Conner. He is survived by his daughter Sandra England; son Steven Conner; seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
