

Neva Alberta Horn Minshall, 96, passed away April 26, 2015. She was born in Spickard, MO on July 22, 1918. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State, her Master’s Degree and her Specialist Degree from Central Missouri State University. She is survived by her three children, Billy W. Minshall (Susie); Edward Dean Minshall (Becky); and Kay Williams (Bob). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Todd Minshall (Stacey), Carie Minshall (Suzie Ayler), Tabitha Harris, Allyson Minshall, Angela Williams Ortiz (Francisco), and Kristen Spiecker (Xan); and nine great-grandchildren, Alex, A.J., and Amanda Harris, Aaron and Amber Coultis, Tanner, Samantha, Cameron and Jessie Spiecker. She is also survived by her very special friend and companion Dr. Robert Sauvan. She was preceded in death by her mother Alma Mary Holmes Bellew, father Logan Albert Horn, step-father Henry Ernest (Pop) Booher, sister Mildred Fuska, brother Edward Booher, and her beloved husband Billy J. Minshall.
Neva spent her life in the service of children. Her first teaching job was a one room rural school house, grades 1-8. She then taught for Grain Valley and then the Center School District. After received her Master and Specialist degrees in counseling, she was the elementary counselor for the Center School District. She spent her retirement years traveling the country with her husband Bill in their RV. She was an active member of Red Bridge Christian Church, and, for the last five years, a resident of Kingswood Senior Living Community, living independently until the last three months of her life. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her, especially her devoted family, and her friend Bob Sauvan.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Red Bridge Christian Church located at 10842 McGee, Kansas City, MO 64114. There will be a private family interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114.
