Nicholas Michael Henning passed away at home on Monday April 17, 2017.

The rosary will be prayed at 5:30 PM, on Friday April 21, 2017 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO, with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 6:00 PM. Private burial at Mount Olivet on Saturday.

Nick was born on May 5, 1991 in Overland Park, Kansas to Veronica and John Henning. He graduated from Rockhurst High School in 2010 and went on to graduate from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications degree in 2014. Nick was in the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Nick worked for C.H. Robinson – Chicago Central.

Nick had a zest for life, love and laughter! He was our joy each day, the life of every party and every family Sunday dinner. He was the protector of the family, always making sure everyone was safe and doing the right thing. He loved his family and was especially close to his brother and sisters. Nick was always smiling and friendly. He has friends all over this country.

He loved sports, knew every statistic possible, loved being in the company of his family and friends. He loved calling people to check in, just to talk or tease someone about a sports game or election outcome.

Nick is survived by his parents Veronica and John Henning, his brother Jack, his sisters Megan (John) Ismert and Mary Elizabeth Henning, and his niece Lydia Marie Ismert. He also leaves behind his grandparents Nancy and Jack Henning and Elena and Robert Fallon and many aunts and uncles and cousins. We will all cherish that he was in our lives and a piece of him will live on in each of us forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rockhurst High School or St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Please offer condolences or share a memory of Nick at

Dear Henning Family,

Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Nick was one of a kind, and I am so lucky and blessed to have known him. Nick didn't know a stranger and was a friend to everyone he met. I have so many memories with Nick that I will cherish forever. I pray that you may find peace and comfort during this difficult time. I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

John, Veronica, and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Nick was a fraternity brother and friend of my son as he was of so many. The first time I ever met your son was at a Mizzou Football tailgate...when my son Jonathan introduced us, Nick got down on one knee and kissed my hand (which I thought was precious). He was always so polite and great to converse with. Always very genuine. My son always enjoyed talking sports and life in general with him. May God's loving embrace comfort you all during this difficult time.
