November 17, 2006-July 31, 2022
Our hearts are heavy at the passing of our beloved Nolan Grant Summers of Raytown, MO. Nolan was the son of Adam and Amy Summers and brother to sisters Taygan and Delaney Summers when he chose to take his own life at the age of 15. We are shocked and devastated by his decision, but his action does not define his life. Although his life was brief, it was abundantly full of laughter and deep love for others. He was the life of every room he entered and continually brought smiles to the faces of every person who knew him with his humor and quick wit. He was greatly admired by so many people and was genuinely a person everyone loved to be around. Most importantly, Nolan loved Jesus with all his heart and was baptized on June 25, 2017. He played drums on the worship team for Commission Church youth group, marched in the drum line at Raytown South High School, and was #3 on the JV Baseball team for Raytown South High School. He let the love of Jesus shine through in everything he did and everyone he met, always striving to make someone else’s day a little brighter. He was an amazing inspiration and he was always more than enough, even when he felt that he didn’t measure up.
Nolan, we will miss your laugh, your smile, and all of the countless ways you made others laugh and smile. We will miss your April fool’s pranks. We will miss your creativity of building a loft bed in your closet, decorating the house for the holidays or anytime, endless rearranging of furniture, impromptu hot dog costumes, or building the entire city of Raytown on Minecraft. We will miss the sound of piano, drums, and marimba being played. We will miss the way you took time to play with younger cousins and other little kids just to make them feel special. We will miss playing baseball in the front yard with you. We will miss your orders for steak and cheese Chipotle bowls, #7 combo meals from McDonald’s, and even the food and feet smell of your room afterwards. We will miss your unashamed daily hugs and kisses and the way you texted us “Good night” anytime you spent the night away from home without fail. So, in the spirit of Nolan, we say “Good night, Nolan”. We love you more than words can express and we look forward to seeing you again some heavenly morning.
