Nora was born to Cecil and Veronica Jolley on September 10, 1930 in Cuba, Missouri. After graduating from Bishop Hogan High School, she married her soul mate, Terry Edward Gray, on October 11, 1950 and together they had 8 children. Nora’s true passion and joy came from loving her husband, raising her children, supporting and encouraging them every day, and teaching them that faith, love and family values will carry them through all the days of their lives.
We will always be reminded of her unconditional love and quiet sacrifices she made daily to better the life of her family. We will never forget the 7 sack lunches made daily with the prize at the bottom, those crazy Christmas mornings she made special forever, playing on the roof, or the thousands of home cooked meals she made. We especially won’t forget the love and comfort she gave, knowing that she was just a phone call away when life dealt any of us adversity.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Terry Edward Jr. and Benjamin Anthony Gray; her parents Cecil and Veronica Jolley; her brother Jay Jolley and sister Mary Rita Murphy. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Terry; her children Karla McGlothlin and her husband Steve; Robin Schmidt and her husband Paul; Matt Gray and his wife Stacia; Nora Dahman and her husband Frank; Nico Gray and his partner Jeff Brown; Jennifer Totta and her husband Ben and her daughter-in-law Gina Gray. She is also survived by her loving brother William Jolley and his wife, Betty; 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews and so many dear friends. Anyone who ever met Nora found a true best friend in her.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:30 – 7:30pm on Thursday, December 15 at McGilley Memorial Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO with the rosary being prayed at 5:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 pm on Friday, December 16 at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 3934 Washington St., Kansas City, MO
Nora touched so many lives. She will always live in our hearts and we will forever celebrate her memory. When Nora entered the gates of Heaven, God made a new best friend.
