Norman James Fisher of Prairie Village, KS passed away on August 8th, 2026 at the age of 82. Born to Wesley and Charlotte Fisher on May 2nd, 1944 in Topeka, KS. Norm was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend. His family moved from Topeka to Wichita, KS in 1946. In Wichita, Wesley started an automotive repair business where Norm worked many summers. In 1965 Wesley Fisher began manufacturing and racing WES-CO dragboats, which became a lifelong passion of Norm’s. Norm served honorably in the US Marine Corps Reserves. Norm met Sherry Isaac while exiting the elevator at the McCollum dormitory at The University of Kansas in 1968; they were together ever since. Norm began working as a mechanical engineer for Black & Veatch after graduating from The University of Kansas, and continued employment there until retirement. Norm and Sherry had Christian in 1980 and Nicholas in 1984. Together, the family made countless memories together on family boating vacations to the Lake of the Ozarks and Table Rock Lake as well as various road trips around the country including visiting relatives in the Wichita area and multiple ski trips to Colorado.
Above all else, Norm was a dedicated husband, father and friend who could always be relied on to offer a lengthy conversation, a helping hand and a loving embrace. He is survived by his wife Sherrilyn Fisher, his brother, Robert and wife Lynn, sons Christian Fisher and Nicholas Fisher and granddaughter Ashley Thompson. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at Hillcrest Covenant Church, 8801 Nall Ave., Prairie Village, KS 66207 on August 21st at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be made to the American Cancer Society - donate.cancer.org
