

Norman D. “Dick” Gaul of Leawood, Kansas, passed away on September 6, 2015. He was born in Brunswick, Missouri on November 17, 1928. He was a 1946 graduate of Paseo High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended KC Junior College for two years, and spent a tour in the Naval Air Corps as a line mac.
He was a lifelong salesman, everything from Jello at General Mills to dental equipment and supplies. He was the junior owner of Gaul Dental Supply in KC, before joining another dental supply house. He received many salesman’s awards. After retiring from dental sales, he turned to real estate investment and property management until the time of his death.
Dick became involved in politics as a councilman and Mayor of Lenexa, Kansas.
As his kids were growing up, he and his family spent most weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks. He also coached Little League boy’s baseball for several years. In later years, Dick enjoyed traveling in his trailer all over the US. He especially liked the mountains and the ocean. Dick loved spoiling his grandkids and great-grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife Lorraine; son Michael Dale Gaul (Susan) of Midland, Michigan; daughter Pamela Rae Stevens (Bruce) of Carrollton, Missouri; two brothers William B. Gaul, Jr. of Tempe, AZ and Robert E. Gaul (Chris) of LaGrange, Georgia; eight grandkids and ten great-grandkids.
Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. In lieu of flowers, Lorraine suggests donations be made to Great Plains SPCA, 5428 Antioch Drive, Merriam, Kansas 66202.
