My deepest condolenses to Lori, Pam , Mike and the entire family. Through Trevor's many treasured memories he shared with me, as well as my own I was so blessed to experience ! I know how incredible Grandpa Gaul was and how incredibly he will be missed..... My thoughts and prayers are and have been with him and the family and will continue to be.

SO sad to learn of the passing of Uncle Dick.  As a child growing up, he was the prototypical favorite Uncle.  Smiling, friendly, cooler than my own dad (why do we always see Aunts & Uncles in this way as children?  I guess because we always see the very best qualities in these loving adults that we admire and want to emulate as children & adolescents without the experience of having been disciplined by them.  A shared characteristic that ensures Aunts & Uncles will always be admired & fondly remembered).  As a young child, our families did so much together so Uncle Dick was a big part of my life while growing up.  I have memories of silly little things that I associate with him.  I remember my dad frequently called him "Duncle Ick" .... and how I thought that was SO funny.   I remember being entrusted to get him a cold beer out of the fridge and then asking for a sip after he had opened the can (and I hated it ..... could NOT understand WHY he and my dad were drinking this stuff!!!!!).  I remember him burning trash in the barrel behind their house in Lenexa .... the smell of the smoke and ash as us kids stood around the barrel mesmerized by the fire that rose from it.  And I remember him building a play house in the side yard of their home for Debbie and Pam.  How that house looked just like a real house on the outside and how fun it was in knowing that place was OUR play house ..... No adults allowed.  But most of all I remember Uncle Dick at the time of the passing of my Grandpa Brown.  I was 15 years old and my own father could not be around because of my parent's recent divorce.  It was a time of great pain and confusion for the entire family, which was primarily made up of females.  Having my Uncle Dick there at that horribly tragic & chaotic time provided a much needed sense of strength & a steadying influence on everyone else gathered there at my Grandparent's home.  His presence was a blessing that was SO needed by all of us at that time but which I especially needed as the only other male in the house. My Uncle Dick was in the house and somehow, some way ..... things would be handled and we would all get through this.  In more recent years, the times that I've crossed paths with Uncle Dick were few but each and every time, upon seeing him I was always immediately happy and uplifted by our meeting.  He had always remained one of my favorite people and although we were both much older, he was obviously still the same ol' Uncle Dick.  He continued to exude a level of charisma unchanged by the passing of time.  I love you Uncle Dick.  Thank you for all of the memories.  My sincere condolences to Mike, Pam, Lorraine and the entire family.
