Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday August 28, 2024 at Nativity of Mary Parish, 10017 E. 36th Terr. S., Independence, MO 64052. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass. A committal service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138.
Norman was born August 1, 1936 in Sedalia, MO to Joseph and Othelda Steffen. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Sedalia and finished an electrical apprenticeship in Kansas City. After a long career as an electrician, he retired in 2005. Many nights and weekends he would spend working additional electrical jobs to ensure his 6 kids did not go without. He was humble, kind-hearted, hardworking and dedicated to family and friends.
Norman will now hold hands with his beloved wife Bernice (Lillian Bernice Steffen) in the gates of Heaven. Both were active members of Nativity Catholic Church for 55 years and celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Norman is survived by his six children: Michael Steffen (Alison), Dawn Wiggins, Joseph Steffen (Tillie), Andrea Freeland (Tim), Catherine McMillin, and Christopher Steffen (Nicole); as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved and loved him. He will be greatly missed by all.
