

Owen William Carroll, age 85, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on June 14, 2021 at the NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri. Owen was born on August 8, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of William C. and Estella K. (Collings) Carroll. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country and attained the rank of Sp4. On May 31, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma he married Sherry Dinsmore. Owen was an animal lover who rescued many dogs and cats over the years that he loved dearly. He was an avid car buff. He owned Chevrolet Corvairs, Chevy Luvs, and AMC Eagles, and restored his very own 1957 Red Chevy Bel Air. He attended many classic car shows and won several awards for his ’57 Chevy. He enjoyed country music, Nascar racing, golf, (He started as a caddy at a young age), watching football, baseball and golf. He was a member of the Whitaker Cable bowling league for many years and received numerous trophies. He was a big Chief's football fan. He was a TV and radio news fanatic. He could watch the news on TV and also listen to another news program on the radio on his headphones all at the same time. He took great pride in his yard especially removing countless gumballs from his yard every year. Owen loved his CB radio and was a "CBer" known as "Rollin T" to his CB buddies.
Sherry and Owen spent every weekend at their lake house at the Lake of the Ozark's. They would pack up every Friday evening and head out to the lake for over 30 years. They had many friends at the lake and could be sighted on the lake in their bright yellow Beachcomber boat.
He was employed by the Whitaker Cable Corporation for 22 years as a Mechanical Design engineer. After his retirement, He continued to work to subsidize his hobbies. He was employed by the city of North Kansas City on the Street Crew, and for over 20 years he was a courier driver for MAWD Laboratory retiring again in 2018.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry, Two daughters: Karen McKee of Florida and Dee Dee (Mark) Smallwood of Independence, MO. Two Grandchildren: Rachel Young of Overland Park, Kansas and Jesse Finch of Grandview, MO. Two Brother-in-Laws: Tom (Judy) Belt, Harold (Anita) Dinsmore both of Kansas City, MO and many nieces and nephews and of course his beloved dog Prince and his two cats Annie and Sammie. He was preceded in death by his parents, His son Bud Carroll and daughter Schellie Lynn Dinsmore.
