Dr. Smith treated both my father and me. A very compassionate and skilled physician. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Dr. Smith was my docent while he was teaching at UMKC Medical School on the Red 3 Unit. He was a wonderful teacher and compassionate physician and I have carried many of his wise words & work ethic into my own career. I just heard today of his passing and am deeply saddened by his loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and three daughters (some of which I cared for at times - along with their fur kids while Maura & he were away on vacation). God bless!

I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Smith's passing. My daughter is a complex GI patient at CMH and Dr. Smith scoped her many times. He was always very thorough. He told me once that he didn't always remember patient names, but did remember pouches. We had a good laugh. My daughter has a j-pouch and he definitely remembered hers. We will keep you all in our prayers and are sad to lose such a wonderful doctor.

My sympathy to the Smith family. I worked with Dr. Smith at Saint Luke's GI Lab. He was a wonderful teacher, clinician, patient centered physician and wonderful friend. I smile through this sadness because of many fond memories. May you all find solace in your all too short times shared.
