

Patricia (Pat) Christian peacefully went to heaven to join Hook & Brian on November 24th, 2010. She was born at Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, Mo. on Armistice Day November 11, 1919 and had just celebrated her 91st birthday among family and friends. Her early years were spent in Purcell, Denton and Shawnee, Kansas before moving to Kansas City, Missouri where she rode the “Goat” to St. Aloysius High School. After graduation she worked for Northern Aviation and Harris Upham. She married Kenneth Christian (Hook) on October 12, 1941. After World War II they moved to Junction City, Kansas in December, 1945 where she helped her husband as the bookkeeper at the N.A.P.A. Auto Parts Store until 1982. Her years in Junction City were spent raising four children, volunteering in many activities at St. Xavier’s Church Circle 3, playing golf at the Junction City Country Club, being a leader for both Cub Scout and Girl Scout activities, and also attending classes at Kansas State University. After returning to Kansas City almost 30 years ago she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1992, Pat moved in with her daughter Renny and her family where they enjoyed her loving care and companionship for over 17 years. She was a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church where she attended bible study with Msgr. Charles. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, her husband and her grandson, Brian Christian. She is survived by her four children: Kenneth (Micki), Prairie Village, KS; Terry (Debbie), Flossmoor, IL; John Creighton, Kansas City and Renny Arensberg (Mark) Leawood, KS; nine grandchildren: Kenny, Ben, Matthew, Carrie, Kyle, Mark, Elise, Briana, Annmarie; twelve great-grandchildren and her brother, Jim Melching, Kansas City.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Cure of Ars, 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, KS. with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 – 10:00 prior to mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Brian Christian Scholarship Fund at Bishop Miege High School or to KVC Health Systems, Inc. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at the Heritage Unit at Manor Care, the Hospice caregivers and special friend Cynthia Ryan.
