Patricia Marie (Atterbury) Brown, lovingly known as “Patty,” 79 of Leawood, Kansas passed away peacefully at her home on January 27, 2026. Born on October 3, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, Patty was the daughter of Lyle and Frances Atterbury.
Patty was described by all who knew her as intelligent, funny, and delightfully sarcastic. Her laughter, humor and wisdom made the simplest of times memorable. She loved animals, horses especially, traveling, watching sports, her career and learning more about her family heritage.
A lifelong professional in the advertising industry, Patty dedicated her career to some of Kansas City’s most respected firms, including Valentine-Radford and Barkley Evergreen. Her commitment, creativity, and strong attention to detail led her to the title of Print Director, a role in which she was highly regarded. Beyond her professionalism, Patty’s sense of humor and knack for harmless pranks made her beloved among her coworkers, who treasured both her sharp wit and generous spirit.
Patty’s greatest joy, however, came from her family. As a mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, she was the heart of everything gathering. Her comforting presence, open arms and sage advice were constant in the lives of those she loved. Her grandchildren, Douglas Jr. and Cole Stevenson, were her pride and joy. She was without question their biggest fan, celebrating every achievement with boundless enthusiasm.
The warmth, laughter, and strength she brought to the world will live on in every heart she touched. Her absence will be felt deeply but her memory will be cherished forever.
Patty is survived by her daughter, Michelle Stevenson and husband, Doug; her son, Stephen Brown; her siblings, Jeanne Meaney, Stephen Atterbury and wife, Michelle, Joyce Flemington and husband, Mark; her grandsons, Douglas Jr and Cole and wife, Brook; and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends.
