Patricia Joan Burdett

Patricia Joan Burdett, nee Gurley, 81, passed into Heaven on June 20, 2014 from Kansas City Hospice House, with her family by her side. Born November 25, 1932 in Kansas City, Mo. Pat, wife of Thomas V. Burdett, who survives of the home, lived her entire life in the Kansas City area. Pat was Mother to five children with Tom, who all survive her: Michael T. Burdett (Diana), Kathleen A. Snow (Bill), Margaret Jo Colle (John), Mary Patricia Swope (Greg), and Christine L. Sparks (Sam). Grandmother to nine: Heidi A. Wynn (Rob), William J. Snow ( Trish), Jennifer Jo Knabe (Quinn), John D. Colle II, Mary Jo Burdett, Audrey G. Burdett, Caitlin P. Swope, Austin W. Sparks, and Sophia M. Sparks. Great- Grandmother to four: Colby D. Wynn, Nicole A. Wynn, Lucas J. Knabe, and Layla Jo Knabe.

Pat was the only daughter of Thomas Gurley and Mary Josephine Malone Gurley Connely. She was a graduate of Lillis High School. After graduation Pat was entered into Holy Matrimony with Thomas Vincent Burdett on May 15, 1954; the couple having recently marked 60 years of marriage. Pat, with her husband Tom, owned and operated the Gladstone Bar in Northeast Kansas City, Missouri for over fifty years. The celebration of St. Patrick’s Day was a premiere annual event at The Gladstone for friends, neighbors and patrons. It was one of those places where, indeed, everybody knows your name. Pat was a consummate cook and, with her children, frequently prepared spreads to nourish a hundred souls. She relished life and took great pleasure in seeing others enjoy it too. Family, friends, and countless faces at the rows of Gladstone Bar tables, now bow their heads in honor and memory of the fine woman and friend that was Patricia Joan Burdett.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 23rd at McGilley State Line Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 22nd with the Rosary prayed at 5:00 p.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel.
