Patricia (Patsy) Lee Hamby Wilson, 65, of Independence, MO passed away with her family by her side on Friday morning, October 28, 2016 at Centerpoint Medical Center from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Memorial service & reception held 4pm Thursday, November 3rd at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel.
Patsy was born June 29, 1951 in Springfield, MO to Glenn & Betty Hamby. She lived most of her life in the Kansas City area. Patsy graduated from Raytown High School in 1969. While there she participated in the sextet singing group; going to state competition with a quartet every year. For two years she attended Missouri University at Columbia where she was in the alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Patsy then earned her RN certification from Penn Valley. She worked as an OR Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Methodist Hospital in Dallas, TX, and finished her nursing career at the VA Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Back pain from Scoliosis forced her to take an early retirement from the career she loved.
Patsy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Raytown; accepting Jesus as her Savior and was baptized during her elementary school years. She enjoyed ministering to the homebound by preparing and delivering meals to them. Patsy and her family loved traveling to the beach for family vacations. Watching basketball and baseball were two of her favorite pastimes. While living in Dallas, she had season tickets to the Mavericks games. Patsy dearly loved her family including her two cats, Boomer & Zelda.
Patsy was preceded in death by her father, Glenn and is survived by her husband, James; a son, Andrew; a step-son, Anthony (Amy); step-grandchildren, Hadley & Silas; her mother, Betty Hamby; her sister, Nancy Hamby; her aunts, Norma Cain & Marjorie Hamby; an uncle, Harry Kyle and numerous cousins.
