Patrick Joseph Rhea

July 23, 1987April 18, 2021

Patrick Joseph Rhea, 33, of Kansas City, Missouri entered Eternal Life on April 18, 2021. Born on July 23, 1987, Patrick was the beloved, only son of Joseph P. and Alice Spalding Rhea, and the dearest brother of six surviving sisters, Elizabeth (Bill) Kirk, Catherine (Joshua) McCaig, Jennifer Sanborn, Colleen Uzelac, Mary (José) Silva, and Brigid (Warren) Cook. Uncle Patrick was adored by his 21 (and counting!) nieces and nephews, and was proud godfather to his niece, Ava Uzelac. Patrick was also survived by his girlfriend, Jennifer Curran, who was a devoted and constant companion to him. Patrick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Dorothy Rhea and Benedict and Alice Spalding.

Patrick attended Rockhurst High School and the University of Dallas where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and History. Patrick had a passion for politics and philosophy, especially for debating anyone who would engage him! Nobody could match his intellect and curiosity, and he always won at chess. He was constantly brainstorming entrepreneurial ideas, learning about new forms of currency, and advising his nephews about investments in the stock market. He dreamed about being a lawyer and fighting for the rights of the downtrodden and neglected. He cheered on the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals wherever he lived. He built the best campfires (taught well by his dad). Patrick loved to dance and was the life of the party on the dance floor at his sisters’ weddings. He always brought flowers to his mother. He was a loyal friend, and a beloved son, brother, and uncle. We all love him up to heaven and back.

Due to current Covid restrictions, there is no wake. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 9:15 a.m. and a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 23, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO.

I knew Patrick throughout college at UD and even had the pleasure of being his roommate the year after we graduated. I have a lot of great memories with him between late night dance parties and getting in heated debates about the most random topics. Patrick had a lot of quirks, some could rub people the wrong way, but I think they all added up to make him the special person we all know and love. My prayers are with his family and all who are missing him right now. I know he’s in a better place and no longer suffering.
