Patrick Rooney

Patrick E. Rooney, 89, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away March 17, 2013. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Inurnment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64137. Patrick was born February 24, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of John Joseph and Pauline (Quick) Rooney. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country during World War II. He attended UMKC for four years. He enjoyed reading, classic automobiles, and music. Patrick was a member of the Elk Lodge #26 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a very proud member for 12 years of the KCMO Police Department leaving as a Lieutenant. He retired from the National Labor Relations Board in 1984. Patrick loved spending time with his children and loving wife Char. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Robert Rooney, and sister Ann Staihr. He is survived by his wife Charline (Johnson) Rooney; daughter Dr. Teresa Garden; sons Joseph Rooney and wife Kathleen, Stephen Rooney and wife Judy; brother Bernard Rooney and wife Beverly; extended family and friends. Dad,you were the best father a son could have.You were the one I always turned to for advice.You were always there to help and I am so proud to be your son.We all loved you so very much.I will always cherish the time we had together and thank you again for my first motorcycle,as it changed my life for better in many ways.I miss you and will always love you,your son joe.
