Paula Rae (Scholl) Switzer passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, at the age of 82. Paula was born in Kansas City, KS on February 26, 1944, to Paul and Bernice Scholl. She attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, Bishop Ward High School, and Avila University. Paula married the love of her life, Bob Switzer, on October 26, 1968. Together, they raised four children, Alan, Bobby, Tommy, and Megan.
When her children were young, she dedicated her time to staying home and raising them. As they grew, she returned to school and graduated magna cum laude from Avila University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She spent her career as a teacher at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School and Blue Valley School District, where she touched the lives of many children and families.
In her retirement, Paula enjoyed spending weekends at Lake Lotawana, babysitting her grandchildren, and attending their sporting events. She was incredibly proud of all seven of her grandchildren and would often boast about their many accomplishments.
Paula was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved socializing with the many groups of friends she made throughout her life. She enjoyed playing bridge and canasta with her friends, the weekly dinners with Bob and their dinner group, neighborhood get-togethers in the Newcastle subdivision and at Tallgrass Creek. Her Catholic faith was very important to her, and she cherished attending weekly mass at St. Thomas More and Tallgrass Creek.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bernice Scholl; her husband, Bob Switzer Sr.; her infant brother, Jackie Lee Scholl; and her brother, Paul Scholl Jr.
She leaves behind her four children, Alan Switzer (Gayle), Bobby Switzer (Julie), Tommy Switzer (Maggie), and Megan Morris (Chris); her seven adoring grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Fraundorfer (Bill); her sister-in-law, Mary Lee Scholl; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Schugel (Jim); and many nieces and nephews.
