Surrounded by her loving family, Paulette Marie Ortiz, 51, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Paulette was born on February 14, 1970 to Paul Ortiz and Rita Barrera Ortiz. She is preceded in death by her mother. Survivors include her father, and sisters, Andrea (Joe) Arroyo, Monica Ortiz, Gerarda (Sam Sparks) Ortiz and Teresa (Ramon) Rodriguez; nieces and nephews who loved her very much, Sierra, Christopher, Serena, Ramon, Anthony, Paul and Carlos. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5 at Guardian Angels Church, 1013 Westport Rd., with Mass of Christian burial following at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Forest Hill/Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, MO Many who knew Paulette, knows that she has traveled quite the journey with her disabilities. She endured many operations for her cerebral palsy, and she had to leave home to go away to school to learn how to perform simple everyday functions that we take for granted. Paulette attended workshop at Developing Potential Inc. (DPI) for over 25 years. The staff and Paulette’s friends loved Valentine’s day as it was tradition to celebrate with a big birthday luncheon for everyone. Paulette loved music, especially hip hop and R&B and would laugh and dance. We will forever miss her smiles, hugs and laughter, especially her infamous “Gaa’s”. Though she could not walk or talk, she in her own way taught us many things such patience, strength and most of all, unconditional love. Paulette was a gift sent from above and we are blessed that God chose us to be her family. She is no longer in pain and is free to run, laugh and play. Best of all, she is now reunited with our loving mother who is singing to her our childhood lullaby…Que Sera Sera Donations may be made to the Developing Potential Inc. developingpotential.org/ and United Cerebral Palsy ucp.org/

Mr. Ortiz and Family,
I’m sorry for your loss of Paulette. The video tribute was beautiful and she was smiling in every picture. I’m sure Rita had the biggest smile when they met.

Prima you will forever hold a special place in my heart. I loved our time together being silly and laughing. Your smile was everything and could light up a room. Heaven gained a beautiful angel who can now do everything, dance, sing, run and talk with all the other heavenly angels. No more pain prima I love you always!

Heart felt condolences to all of you. I have never seen a family come together to love & care for their loved one the way I seen all of you do for Paulette. You can tell how much it made her smile, to know she was loved so much by so many. Now she is so very happy being in your momma's arms. I'm sure they are discussing how much she will be missed & how the two of them will protect & watch over all of you. May Paulette rest in peace & may you all find peace in knowing she is in a safe loving place with God & your loving mom. ❤

My heart goes out to the Ortiz Family. I was Paulette's bus driver, and there wasn't nothing that I wouldn't do for her. Always making sure she was cared for, talking with her, laughing and just being her GUARDIAN ANGEL, and walking her up to the door to make sure she got in. She was and will always be my baby girl, and sadly missed. love you guys.
