Margaret R. “Peggy” Hammer, 63, Kansas City, MO, passed away April 17, 2018 at home from pancreatic cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 23, preceded by Visitation from 9-10a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4101 W. 105th Terrace, KCMO. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice or St. Catherine’s Food Pantry.
Peggy was born July 23, 1954 in Kansas City, MO. She attended St. Catherine’s Grade school and graduated from Ruskin High School in 1972. Peggy worked various positions during her lifetime, starting with Westport Development and was a civilian with various government agencies, retiring from the Marine Corps Center in Belton, MO.
Peggy was a loving and caring sister, aunt and great aunt. Her nieces and nephews were in awe of her concert experiences. Peggy loved and took great pride in her home. She loved her flowers and antiquing, and excelled in Kansas City history.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Helen Hammer. She is survived by: sisters, Donna Burke and husband Val Jones of Lenexa and Patricia Dowd of Lee’s Summit; brother, Michael Hammer of KCMO; nephews, Eric Burke and Matthew Dowd; nieces, Alison and Sami Dowd, Nichole (Kent) Cook and Michelle (Mitchell) Jeffries; three great nieces, one great nephew; and a special Aunt Dolores Rabuse.
