

Petrina, affectionately known as “Trina,” was born on May 24, 1971, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Alfred and Jewel Roberts. She graduated from Southeast High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in human & consumer sciences from Ohio University in 2021 and later received her master's degree in public affairs from Park University.
Trina had numerous successful career achievements. As an entrepreneur, she founded a body care business named May XXIV in 2023. In addition, she served over 10 years as a civil servant at the Social Security Administration, where she dedicated herself to her work, earning the respect of her peers and seniors alike. Passionate about uplifting her cultural heritage, she also supported her colleagues by volunteering with the Black Employee Resource Group within her local federal bureau.
Trina was a woman of deep faith and a long-time member of The Emmanuel Church, where she was active in various ministries. She served faithfully as a choir director, deaconess, and Sunday school teacher for the young adult ministry. Trina was known for her uplifting spirit and carried out her calling to the Lord and her community with grace and purpose. Her belief in God’s plan shaped the way she lived and loved, offering comfort and encouragement to everyone around her.
Trina’s life was filled with love and devotion. She was married to her husband of 29 years, Steve, and together they raised three children: Marissa, Lauren, and Steven. She was blessed with two brothers, Alfie and Elliott, and she adored her nieces and nephews, loving them as if they were her own: DeShayne, Alexa, DeWayne Jr. (DJ), Dekobi, Darius, Savannah, Johann, Elliott Jr. (EJ), Eliza, and Jaxson. She also leaves behind a large and loving extended family. Trina’s life was deeply enriched by the friendships she built, and she was cherished by many.
Trina’s infectious personality, smile and lively sense of humor brightened every room she entered. Her charisma was among her most remarkable qualities. She was a counselor, and motivator always ready to listen and offer wisdom to family and friends alike. Trina was the rock of her family, and her unwavering devotion to her husband, Steve, was a testament to their enduring love.
Her influence reached deeply into the lives of her children. She encouraged them to strive for greatness, always reminding them to step outside of their comfort zone and trust in the Lord. Trina’s legacy of strength, grace, and unwavering faith lives on in her children who were blessed to have had her as their mother.
Trina was devoted in the gospel of Jesus Christ and believed that He was the firm foundation for her life and her family. She encouraged her loved ones to lean on the Lord and to build a personal relationship with Him. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord first, and family above all else.
This is such a hard time for all of us. Trina meant so much to each of us, and while we’ll miss her deeply, the love and impact she left behind will always stay with us.

A viewing will occur Monday, April 7, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Emmanuel Church, 920 Olive Street, Kansas City, MO 64127. A funeral service will occur Monday, April 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Church, 920 Olive Street, Kansas City, MO 64127. A committal will occur Monday, April 7, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A repass will occur Monday, April 7, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Emmanuel Church, 920 Olive Street, Kansas City, MO 64127.
