Philip Carl Peterson

He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy with a degree in engineering. He worked for Royal Insurance for 34 years. He received a designation of Professional Engineer, and for most of those years, he was Regional Loss Prevention Manager in boiler safety, overseeing a team of engineers. After retiring from Royal, he worked for Traveler’s Insurance for 15 years.

Phil was an active member of First Baptist Raytown (Connection Point Church) for over 65 years. He had a deep faith and served the Lord as a deacon, altar counselor, and volunteer. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and enjoyed attending their musical and sporting events.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Jack Moorhead, Sr.; three brothers, David Peterson, Gary Peterson, and Jack Moorhead, Jr.

He is survived by Rita, his wife of 62 years; children, Kathy (Chris) Rogers, Philip Kevin (Andrea) Peterson, and Kim (Howard) Periman; grandchildren, Kyle Rogers, Savannah (Tyler) Hibdon, Corinne Rogers, Logan Jane (Zane) Bahrs, Jake Periman, Ty Philip Periman; great-granddaughter, Vivian Hibdon; and brothers, Richard (Gloria) Peterson, Mike Moorhead, and Roy (Kathy) Moorhead.

A visitation for Philip will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A funeral will occur Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133. A graveside will occur Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
