Phillip I. Barker, 81, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2013 at Kansas City Hospice House. He was born on July 24, 1931. Phil is survived by his wife Pat, sons Rob (Julie), their children Jennifer (DJ), Michael, Katherine and Matthew, and Ron, his son Ryan (Kaylee), brother Paul Barker (Marilyn) of Denver, CO, plus his blended family including Pam (Clark), Mark (Pamela), and Karen (Greg), and their combined seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by Shirley, his wife of 52 years, parents George and Gladys Barker, and sister JoAnn Crutcher.
Phil attended Paseo High School and Kansas City Junior College before entering the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Glasco/Rexel in 2004 after 32 years as a wholesale electrical supply salesman. During his retirement years he enjoyed volunteering as a shuttle driver for the VA Hospital and was a big KU basketball fan. Phil was a member of South Summit Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery South.
