Phoebe A Wolfgeher

Phoebe A. Wolfgeher, 85, of Independence, MO passed away May 29, 2014. Visitation 6-8pm Monday, June 2, 2014 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church (10010 HWY 40, Indep., MO) with rosary recited at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial at the church 10am Tuesday with interment following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Phoebe was born July 23, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to William Sr. & Phoebe Stark. Growing up Phoebe was baptized, had her first communion & was confirmed at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. She completed 8th grade from Our Lady of Sorrows and graduated in 1946 from Lillis High School. Throughout her life she also belonged to Nativity of Mary Parish & St. Bernadette’s Parish in Hermitage, MO. Phoebe married the love of her life, Wilbert Sr. on Sept. 17, 1949 & together they raised 13 children. They moved to the Independence area in 1950. Phoebe was active in her church parishes & their Altar Societies as well as choir for Nativity & St. Bernadette Parishes. She was a Camp Fire Leader, Den Mother, belonged to the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary & was a President for the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council 4962. Phoebe made numerous friends while at Carmel Hills Living Center.

Phoebe is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Wilbert Sr.; her parents; two brothers, William Jr. Stark (Betty) & Eugene Stark (Marge); two sisters, Mary Ellen Stark & Kathryn Southard (Eugene) & one grandchild, Tesa Wolfgeher. She is survived by her 13 children, Mary Ford (David), Wilbert Jr. Wolfgeher (Barbara), Patricia Shippy (Steve), Phoebe Jones (Barry), Joseph Sr. Wolfgeher (Connie), Frances Horning (Steve), Katharina Knapp (Walter), Rosemarie Trimble (Steve), Michael Wolfgeher, John Wolfgeher (Donna), Robert Wolfgeher, Albert Wolfgeher & Mark Wolfgeher (Ron Forshee); 28 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
