Phyllis Mary Czarlinsky of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024. She was born on November 19, 1948, to Phillip “Buddy” and Mary “Bumba” (Gorman) Czarlinsky. Phyllis grew up in Leawood, KS, with her two brothers, Charlie and Kenny. She attended Shawnee Mission East High School and the University of Kansas.
Phyllis worked in banking before retiring to become her Mother’s caregiver. She was a devoted Mom to her two sons, Ryan Hicks and Travis Hicks, and made raising them her top priority. She had a deep love for gardening, animals, nature, maps, reading, cooking, the Lake of the Ozarks, music (especially Bobby Darin, John Lennon, and Dire Straits), movies, and comedy. She believed strongly in maintaining a good sense of humor about life.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip “Buddy” and Mary “Bumba” (Gorman) Czarlinsky, her brothers, Charlie and Kenny, and her beloved dog, Gus. She is survived by her sons, Ryan Hicks and Travis Hicks; daughter-in-law, Autumn Elliott; and many dear cousins.
Phyllis often said, “Let it be,” a reflection of her outlook on life. Mom, we will always love you and are forever grateful for all that you did for everyone you knew while you were here.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
