Born on April 11, 1937 to Aloha (Graham) Crawford and Ferdinand Hauck, Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. She attended The Barstow School where she made many of her dearest friends. She developed a love of travel as a young person when she travelled the world with her beloved grandparents Horace and Wanda Graham. Phyllis attended Briarcliff College in New York and graduated from The University of Kansas. While at KU, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married the love of her life, David Leslie Kerr, on October 10, 1959. Their life together was cut short by David’s untimely death in 1974. Phyllis was a wonderful mother and devoted all of her time and efforts to raising her three children. Later in life Phyllis met and became dear friends with George Carmichael (Hoagy). The two spent 9 wonderful years together travelling the world and sharing their love of food.
Phyllis was a fabulous cook and she loved creating memorable meals for her family. She was adored by all who knew her, and she leaves behind family and friends who will miss her warmth and joy for life.
Phyllis is survived by her loving children David Kerr (Karen), Lisa Hamilton (Mike), Phyllis Quevedo (Rafael), and her nine grandchildren: Jacqueline, Elaine, Alexandra and Christina Kerr, Leslie, Michael and Katherine Hamilton and Sofia and Isabella Quevedo. She is also survived by her sister Karen Crawford and many other cherished relatives and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to KU Cancer Center. (KU Endowment PO Box 928 Lawrence, KS 66044 or www.kuendowment.org/givenow.)
