Porfiria Sandoval, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 18, 2019 after battling a long illness. We will celebrate her life on December 27, 2019 at McGilley Midtown Chapel. Friends and loved ones may begin gathering at 5:00pm with a memorial service to start at 7:00pm.
Porfiria was born on September 15, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to Joseph and Juanita (Contreras) Ojeda. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1960. She proudly worked in the service industry as a housekeeper for KU Medical Center, St. Mary’s and Trinity Lutheran Hospitals. She retired from the Hyatt Regency Crown Center and settled in to enjoy time with her six grandchildren. Her retirement was spent tending to her plants, keeping up with her family and listening to good music. She was known to never pass up a good dessert, offer a classic quick clapback and was always ready to offer her own unique advice. She would give you the last of whatever she had to offer and would never send you off without a blessing.
Porfiria was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Juanita Ojeda; her brothers Johnny Ojeda, Gus Ojeda and Terry Ojeda, and her niece Lisa Moreno-Ojeda.
Porfiria is survived by her son, David Sandoval of Kansas City, MO; three daughters, Anita Butler, Angela Sandoval and Joanna Martinez, all of Grandview, MO; one brother, Joseph Ojeda, Jr., two sisters, Mary Ojeda and Patricia Ojeda, all of Kansas City, MO and the lights of her life, six grandchildren Rhema, Chayanne, Joshua, Sasha, Hope and William as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend our extreme thankfulness to St. Luke’s Hospice House for their genuine love and care. Additionally, a special thank you to our Ojeda and Contreras family for helping us through this time.
Porfiria was both mother and father to her children. She was the epitome of a hardworking, selfless single mother. A spunky spark of life and a true trailblazer. Her children will forever be blessed by her sacrifices. And although are hearts are broken as we realize this life will never be the same without her we praise God for her life, we rest in the truth of His promises and patiently await the time we can be with her again.
