Quentin was born in a farmhouse about a mile north of Seneca, KS to Victor and Mary (Carroll) Huerter. He attended Creighton University School of Pharmacy for a year before transferring to University of Kansas. Between semesters of his senior year he married his lifetime sweetheart, Barbara (Bobbie Lorson) and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 1953.
He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, serving two years active duty as a Medical Service Corp Officer. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1959 and practiced General Medicine for six years. After that he entered an Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Kansas (1966-1969) and practiced Ophthalmology until his retirement in 1999. During his career, he served as President of the Wyandotte County Medical Society and the Kansas City Opthalmologist Society. He was active in many local and national medical organizations.
Quentin is survived by his sons Dan (Kathy) Huerter, Joe (Kathleen) Huerter, daughter Ann (Jeff) Kersh, brother Ron (Connie) Huerter and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, February 6 at Church of the Nativity, 3800 W. 119th Street, Leawood, KS. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be immediately after Mass in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Road, Lenexa, KS.
