Obituary of Ralph J Hodapp
. Ralph was born June 1, 1932 in Harlan, Iowa to the late George A. and Clara M. (Pauley) Hodapp. Ralph enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was assigned to the 1009th Special Weapons Command in the field of Cartographic Drafting. While in the service, Ralph met Geraldine (Gerrie) Potteiger. They married on January 14, 1954 at St. Stephen’s Church in Washington D.C. Ralph and Gerrie celebrated 68 years of marriage. They raised a family of six children, William R., Gary J., Audrey A., Mark E., Curt A., and Roger P. After being in the service, Ralph and Gerrie moved back to the Midwest where he joined J.C. Penney Company. As the family grew, they moved around the Midwest where Ralph was elevated to larger stores for his management skills and talent. Ralph became involved in many community and social functions. After 33 years, Ralph retired and joined with Joseph and Mary Crushshon to run the Homecrafters Realty in Kansas City for 10 years. Ralph enjoyed raising his family, playing cards and games, fixing up his houses, working on projects or crafts for others, and traveling. Ralph was very active in the Catholic Church. He assisted in Mass as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, or an Altar Server. Ralph also led the praying of the Rosary and prayed during Adoration. Ralph was preceded in the death by his wife, Geraldine, and by his mother, father, three brothers and two sisters. Ralph is survived by his six children (William, Gary, Audrey, Mark, Curt and Roger), their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his sister (Benita) and his three brothers (LaVern, Ronald, and Dennis). In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Sisters in Jesus the Lord, 512 N. 11th Street, St. Joseph, MO 64501.
