

Ramon “Ray” Rodriguez, 86, passed away on January 28, 2017 at KU Hospital. Visitation will be from 5-7:30pm with Rosary at 6:30pm Monday, February 6th at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., KCMO. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am Tuesday, February 7th at Scared Heart Church, 2544 Madison KCMO. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. Ray was active in several civic organizations including Minute Circle, Urban Housing Redevelopment Program, Whatsoever, East High PTA, he received a proclamation from KC Mayor Wheeler for his many civic works. But he truly believe that's his greatest accomplishment was his family.
He served in the army for two years and was in the Air Force Reserves for almost 30 years.
He worked as an independent Insurance Agent for many years. He then started his own business in heating and cooling named Alph Refrigeration including a Plant Manager/Facilities Maintenance at
Midland Pharmaceutical. He finally retired when he turned 81.
Ray was born June 27, 1930 to Ramon and Elena (Lozoya) Rodriguez, who preceded him in death. He met Angie (Evangeline) Parra in 1947 and married her September 29, 1953. They were married for 62 years. She recently passed on June 20, 2016. He is survived by his son Ramon Rodriguez and wife Maria of Manhattan, KS., Elaine Salazar and husband Mac of Kansas City, MO., four brothers-in-laws, Adolph Parra, Robert Parra, Ricardo Parra and Alfredo Parra and life partner Peter Harakas, sisters-in-laws Vera Rios, Abbie Aguirre and Esther Muro; four grandchildren Rebekah Rodriguez, Kevin Salazar and wife Taylor, Patrick Salazar and Thomas Salazar, and two great-grandsons Mikey and Cooper.
