

Ramona Raya, 78 of Kansas City, Mo died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at North Kansas City Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Redemptorist Fathers Catholic Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Ramona was born July 12, 1930 in Kansas City, MO to Porfirio and Concepcion (Lopez) Ramirez, the seventh of 15 children and lived on the west side of Kansas City, MO her entire life. Ramona enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafting with her sisters; gardening, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a fast friend to everyone she met and through her love, compassion and generosity we know that God has reserved a ‘special’ place for her. Ramona was preceded in death by her daughter Catalina Raya, her granddaughter, Olivia Raya, her great granddaughter, Ramona Jones and eight siblings, Maximino, Carmen, Vincent, Jesus, Martha, Maria, Donicio and Jose.
Ramona leaves behind her husband and best friend of 59 years, Clemente Raya; 6 sons and four daughters in law; Clemente Raya, Jr., Louis and Sylvia Raya; Porfirio and Norma Raya, all of Kansas City, MO; Joseph and Janice Raya of McLouth, KS; Mark and Tammy Raya of Lee’s Summit, MO; and Roman Raya of Greenwood, MO and her niece who has provided her with love and nursing care until she went home, Olga Ramirez; four sisters, Marcelina Ortiz, Lupe Fretz, Beatrice Villalobo and Margarita Ramirez; two brothers, Porfirio Ramirez and Frank Ramirez. Ramona also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 15 step-great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends whom she loved.
