Randy lived in Lenexa, Kansas, and shared his life with his soul mate and wife, Janet.
Randy was one of three sons born to Dortha and Dewey Spicer, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971, attaining the rank of E-7. Following his military service, Randy continued his education and proudly earned his MBA from Rockhurst College.
Randy went on to enjoy a fulfilling career with Mobil Oil. His dedication and hard work took him overseas to London, where he contributed to the development of credit card technology that helped create the convenience of paying at the pump.
Randy was charitable, kind, and always willing to help others. Post military, he met the mother of his two sons, Mary Gillespie and had Scott and Steven. Together, they created countless family memories: fishing, camping, visiting amusement parks, skiing in the mountains and lakes, going to movies, attending sporting events, and spending time at the lake. These were just a few of the many adventures Randy treasured with his family.
Later in life, Randy reconnected with Janet Scott, who became his soul mate and loving companion. Above all else, Randy's family was his greatest source of pride and joy. No one loved his grandkids quite the way Randy did.
Randy is survived by his two devoted sons, Scott and Steven; his grandson, Liam Spicer; his granddaughter, Mila Spicer; his daughters-in-law, Lisa and Leanna Spicer; his brothers, Ken and Bert Spicer; his great-granddaughter and great-grandson, Jessica and Luke Flannigan; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, on September 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same location from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Committal with Full Military Honors will take place at Mount Moriah Cemetery South at 2:00 pm.
