

Raymond A. Redlingshafer, Sr., 83, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully on August 19, 2014. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Road, Roeland Park, KS 66205. Friends may call at the church from 9-10:00 a.m. or after the service in the Parish Center.
Ray was born in Kansas City, MO to Raymond V. and Edna Redlingshafer in 1931. He attended area catholic schools. He was a distinguished military graduate from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL, where he served as president of his class, fraternity president and the student body president, he returned to the Midwest and met the love of his life, Teresa McGilley. They were married for 52 years and blessed with 7 children, they lived an entertaining and active life raising their family. Ray was a loving father, grandfather and mentor. He especially enjoyed watching the kid’s activities, coaching football, his “Third Thursday” group, the Bishop Miege Parents of Wrestlers (POW's), many Spring Hill College reunions, Sunday night poker games, annual trips to the horse races over the 4th of July and the traditional New Year’s Eve party with the gang.
Ray had a successful entrepreneurial business career leading 5 companies from start up to acquisition and serving as an independent business consultant. Many of his business colleagues fondly referred to him as “the poor old carpenter”.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Teresa McGilley Redlingshafer, his son, Christopher L. Redlingshafer (Sally Keating), his sisters, DeEtte Gaughan (Will) and Jean Rode. He is survived by his six children, Raymond A. Redlingshafer, Jr. (Lisa), Teresa Redlingshafer Gehring (Geof), J. Ryan Redlingshafer (Ruth), Dirk P. Redlingshafer (Vince), Rex A. Redlingshafer (Janice), and Ramona Redlingshafer Simons (Monk), 22 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you goes out to Ray's caretakers and loved ones who assisted and loved him in the last year of life. A big Thumbs Up Dad/Grandpa, we will miss you!!
