

Raymond Lee Whetstone, 92, passed away September 11, 2023, at home.
Raymond was born January 28, 1931, in Independence, MO to Claude Whetstone and Lottie VanWhye. Ray was married to his beloved wife Virginia for 56 years before she was called home. He proudly served his county in the United States Air Force where he was a Turret System Mechanic. Ray worked at Bendix Corporation until he retired. Upon retiring Ray started his own plumbing company that he ran for several years.
Ray enjoyed bowling, playing golf, collecting model trains and dancing. He also enjoyed a good ball game, whether it was on TV or at the ballpark. Ray loved a good conversation about history and his time working on planes in the air force over a glass of good scotch or wine.
Ray will be dearly missed by his sons Terry Whetstone and Rick Whetstone (Karen). He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Joy Dawn Trenolone (Michael), Travis Whetstone (Katie), Amy Ramirez (Jose) and Samuel Whetstone (Kathryn), great grandchildren: Brianna, Lindsey, Ashley, Alexander, Carson, Katelynn, Aiden, Addilynn, Lola, Mateo and Isla. Ray is proceeded in death by his parents, loving wife, brother and grandson Chad Whetstone.

A visitation for Raymond will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
Funeral service will follow from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with Burial at Floral Hills Cemetery
