Rea Chandler Black, 81, of Independence, MO went to his heavenly home Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Born January 9, 1929 in Rich Hill, MO Rea was a graduate of Rich Hill High School class of 1947 and a Veteran of the Korean War serving with the 65th Engineer Combat Battalion. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Caton of Nevada, MO on August 18, 1954. They moved to the Kansas City area in 1956. Rea was proud to be a charter member of Pebble Creek Assembly of God Church in Kansas City, MO. He was a former member of the Grandview, MO City Council. He was employed by Bendix, Allied Signal and Honeywell as a Senior Production Control Planner and retired after 34 years of service. Rea lived a life of integrity, honesty and true compassion for others. His greatest joy in life was his love for his Lord, family and friends. Rea was the son of George and Ethel Black who preceded him in death as well as eight brothers and sisters. Affectionately known by his loved ones as PaPaw and Pops, Rea is survived by his wife, Norma and two daughters, Joni Clouse and Jean Lilly of Independence, MO. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and two very special sons-in- law, George Lilly and Greg Clouse. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Friday September 17th at the McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday September 18th at the Pebble Creek Assembly of God located at 13800 E. 51st St. KCMO with burial following at 4:30pm in Robinson Cemetery in Rich Hill, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pebble Creek Assembly of God Building Fund.
