It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Rebecca Jane Nuss. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she leaves behind will live on forever.
Rebecca was a proud United States Army veteran who served her country, including a deployment to Afghanistan. She carried the strength and determination of a soldier throughout her life, meeting challenges head-on and standing firmly in what she believed. Stubborn and strong-willed, Rebecca lived life on her own terms. But those who knew her best also knew the beautiful heart behind that strength – a heart that loved deeply, cared genuinely, and gave freely to the people around her.
Rebecca loved her family fiercely. She was a woman who loved deeply and touched more lives than she may have ever realized. Her strong personality, generous heart, unforgettable smile, and the way she made her presence known will be remembered by all who knew her.
Rebecca had a gift for touching lives. Her genuine, loving, and caring personality drew people to her, and her warmth left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was always smiling – a smile that had a way of making others feel welcome and loved. Rebecca had a way of making people feel seen and cared for, and her hugs were the kind that comforted you and reminded you that you mattered.
The love Rebecca shared was never limited to just a few people. She gave it generously, sincerely, and without reservation. She never held back when it came to the people she loved. She was loyal, passionate, and unafraid to show how much someone meant to her. Her love was unmistakable – in her words, her actions, her smiles, and the way she wrapped her arms around the people who needed her. She leaves behind countless memories and people whose lives are better now because she was part of them.
Rebecca was a devoted mother who was immensely proud of her son, Ethan. He was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to tell others how proud she was of him. Watching Ethan grow and build a family of his own brought her immense happiness. She was proud of the man he had become and was overjoyed to see the life and family he and his wife, Hannah, were building together. Rebecca’s pride in Ethan was something she shared openly and often. Her love for him was fierce, unconditional, and unwavering, and there was never any doubt about how much he meant to her.
Rebecca was looking forward to becoming a grandmother for the very first time, a milestone that filled her heart with excitement and love. Although she will not be here to welcome her granddaughter as everyone had hoped, the love she already carried for this little one will forever be part of her story. Her granddaughter will one day learn about the remarkable woman Rebecca was; a woman who served her country, loved with her whole heart, smiled through life’s challenges, and made people feel special simply by being herself. Though her granddaughter will not have the opportunity to know her in the way everyone had wished, she will grow up knowing her through the stories, memories, and love she left behind.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her beloved father, James. She leaves behind her loving mother, Elizabeth; her son, Ethan, and daughter-in-law, Hannah; her brothers, Jeffrey and Michael; her sister, Jennifer; her nieces, Heaven-Leigh and Megan; her nephew, Zachary; her great-nieces, RiLee, Sumerian, and Persephone; her great-nephew, Legend; and her cousin, Michelle, who was more than family – she was Rebecca’s best friend for a lifetime. In addition, Rebecca leaves behind many extended family members and countless friends whose lives she touched with her genuine kindness, caring, and unforgettable smile.
The loss of Rebecca leaves an emptiness in our lives that words cannot fully express. While the pain of losing her is immeasurable, so is the love she gave and the memories she leaves behind. She reminds us that life is meant to be lived wholeheartedly, that love should never be hidden, and that a simple smile or act of kindness can mean more than we may ever know.
Rebecca served her country with courage and stood strong in her convictions. She loved her family fiercely and unapologetically, smiled brightly, hugged tightly, and left love wherever she went. The world is a little less bright without her in it, but the love she gave will continue to shine through the people who knew her.
She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten. The love she gave her family is her greatest legacy, and that love will live on for generations to come.
Until we meet again, may you be at peace in Heaven, reunited with your Dad and embraced by his loving arms once more. Though our hearts ache for both of you, we find comfort in imagining you together again.
Keep smiling, keep watching over us, and save us all a hug.
