Richard was born July 22, 1935 the son of Alton H. and Ellen E. (Roberts) Clark in Uniontown, Kansas. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Uniontown where he played football, basketball and baseball. Richard served in US Army and US Army Reserve until his Honorable discharge.
On February 23, 1958 Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia "Pat" Clarida in Fort Scott, Kansas. To this union, their daughters, Kimberly and Kelli were born. The family made their home in Wichita, Kansas.
Richard was employed in data processing for 50+ years as a Systems Analyst/Programmer, retiring from both Sperry UNIVAC Corporation and The Wichita Clinic.
Richard led by example and lived a life of faith, family, admirable work ethic, friend to all and active in his community. A family man, Richard always made time for his girls, whether it was a game of HORSE with the basketball and hoops, helping coach his daughters' softball team, tetherball in the backyard, grilling steaks on a Sunday afternoon or building a playhouse for his girls - Dad always put family first.
Richard was a Mason (since 1962) and a Shriner (since 1980). He was an active member of the Midian Shrine Oriental Band for 25 years and a member of West Heights United Methodist Church, Wichita, Kansas.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 62 years Patricia "Pat" Clark, his two daughters Kimberly A. Clark of Kansas City, MO, and Kelli L. (Clark) Schwartz of Leawood, KS; son-in-law, James Schwartz of Leawood, KS; and proud Papa to four grandsons, Dominick and Richard Roveto and Taylor and Preston Schwartz; sister Barbara Ward and a host of family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Ellen Clark; sister, Sylvia Bybee.
Richard always said he did not deserve the grace and goodness given to him - those who knew him disagreed. He believed love, strength and prayer from family carried him through some very serious health problems during life. His greatest pride and joy was his family, especially wife Pat.
Very few people can light up the world with their smile and positive attitude. His love for life, infectious smile and laughter, cute wit and love for all will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the McGilley State Line Chapel, with a Celebration of Life following at 11 a.m.
A memorial has been established with the Shriners Hospital for Children - St. Louis: Shriners Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.
