Rick was born on March 8, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of the late Donald L. Hixson and Barbara Garrison. He was the proud owner of Western Awning company; a business started by his late father and later owned and operated by Rick and his brothers. Rick began working in the business at 17 years of age; he worked hard and believed in the quality and legacy of the business his father had started. Only when his recent illness stopped him in his tracks did he step away.
Rick is survived by his brothers Alan Hixson (Janet) and David Hixson (Denise); as well as his niece, Jessica Hixson, and nephew, Zachary Hixson (Kelly, Zoey and Aiden), and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rick was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Donald and Barbara Hixson as well as many very special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Chapel. Internment will immediately follow the service.
