Richard Allen Hodge, 73, of Edwards, MO, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 2nd, 2019.

Richard was born on October 27, 1945 in Kansas City, MO. He served 4 years active duty in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Richard spent his professional life as a Master Plumber and finished his career as the Facility Manager for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and School.

Richard was an inspiration to the ones he loved, always emphasizing strength, independence and self-worth. He loved his family furiously, almost as much as he loved fishing! Richard was passionate about animals, nature, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Richard was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce Hodge and second wife Kathleen Hodge, multiple brothers and sisters, his parents and his many loved pets.

Richard leaves behind his sons, Allen Hodge (Jacque) and Michael Choate; daughters, Tracy Choate and Kelly Majors (Kelly); sister-in-law, Bertha Bledsoe, as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M., Funeral Service 12:00 P.M. Graveside Service with Military Honors to follow at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Great Plains SPCA of Independence Campus, 21001 E. Missouri 78 Hwy, Independence, MO 64057, (816) 621-7722.

I have heard so many wonderful thing about Richard over the years. Even though I didn't get to meet him I know how much he was loved and how he loved fishing. Family Memories last forever. I remember going out to Lake Lotawana to our uncle John and Aunt Nola's cabin on the 4 th of July every year. and getting together at Grandma Stewart's for Christmas , all the aunts , cousins uncles, really had some good times. Guess the last time I got to see him was over at his sisters house on Collins ave.for a visit must have been in the 60 s or so R.I.P. cousin.
