Forever in our hearts, he will be fondly remembered by his beloved wife, Lois Jean McCollum, his stepdaughter Dawn, step grandchildren Jakoby and Brooklynn, brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Linda McCollum, and sister and brother-in-law Ervina and Jim Kahler, as well as three nieces and a nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents Lewis “Red” McCollum and Evelyn Clark McCollum Davis and brother, Ronnie McCollum.
Richard's journey began in Moberly, Missouri and included a cherished childhood in Keytesville, and saw him graduate from Park Hill High School, and attended Northwest Missouri State University. His professional life spanned from truck driving to an esteemed role as an operations manager at BlueLinx.
His passions included hunting, particularly ducks, making him a proud member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He also found joy in fishing, NASCAR, and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. Richard's legacy will continue to live on through his endearing phrases such as "now listen" and country melodies like the crawdad song that always brought laughter. His memory will continue to warm the hearts of all those who loved him dearly.
Honor his legacy by donating to his cherished organizations: Northcare Hospice House, Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, or Ducks Unlimited.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, April 20 starting at 1pm in the Evergreen Cemetery, De Witt, Missouri, on County Road 391 off of US 24 Highway.
