

RIchard Oliver McCreary, 70, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away March 18, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House. Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at the Second Baptist Church, 3620 East 39th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64128.
Richard Oliver McCreary was born to James W. McCreary and Miriam G. (Shipley) McCreary on June 27, 1945. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri, where he was baptized and dedicated his life to Christ at a young age. As a child, Richard was a member of the YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, spent summers in Tipton, Missouri where he developed an interest in fishing and hunting.
Richard graduated from Central High School in 1963. He attended both Lincoln University and Park College. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Park University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He completed graduate studies at University of Missouri-Kansas City and Central Missouri State University. He was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Richard taught in the Kansas City, Missouri School District.
Richard is survived by: his wife, Veronica; daughter, Richshaunda Taylor (Meguial); mother-in-law, LaVerne Armstrong; grandchildren, Meguial Taylor Jr., Giovanny and A'Mya Wright, and Missiah Taylor; brithers, Walter L.(Phyllis), James L. (Janet), and Wade A.; a sister Daisy; brother in - law, Percy Armstrong (Ida); Terry Wright (like a son), nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The McCrearys, Russells, and Shipleys.
