Richard was born in Dodge City, Kansas on November 10, 1931. He married Vera Brink in Ford, Kansas in 1954. The two were married for 65 years until Vera's passing in 2019.
Richard served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After returning to the States, he entered mortuary school in Dallas, Texas. He worked for DW Newcomer's for 56 years as an embalmer and funeral director. He and Vera never missed an opportunity to transport the deceased for the funeral home. All of his cars always had to be "funeral home clean." After retiring, Richard and Vera traveled all over the world. He also enjoyed puttering around the house.
Richard was preceded in death by parents Grant and Alice Henning Powers, and nine siblings.
He is survived by son Randy Powers, Dion and Devin Fisher, Mike Henry, grandchildren Chad Mixon, Cole Hughes, and Anthony Potenziani, and numerous friends.
