Richard (Dick) Stoermann, age 88 of Leawood KS, passed away at his home on November 23, 2020. He was born on June 9, 1932 of Martin J. Stoermann and Irene (Bossert) Stoermann in Kansas City, MO. Dick served in the US Navy as an engineman from 1949 to 1953. He served aboard the LST 857 supporting Marines as they landed at Inchon in the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he married JoAnne Frances (Warren) Stoermann, ultimately settling in Leawood, Kansas. Dick worked as a master electrician for over 50 years, including managing his own company, the Stoermann Electric Co.
Dick is survived by his wife, JoAnne, and children, Dr. Richard Stoermann, Robert Stoermann, and Jane Nelson. A fourth son, James Stoermann, died in 1995. Dick also had twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Catholic Mass was held in his honor at Cure of Ars on November 29, 2020. A military memorial will be held in Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
