Richard Eli Swan, 79, of Independence, MO passed away October 11, 2015. Visitation on Wed., Oct. 14th from 6-8pm at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel. Funeral service 10:30am Thurs. at the chapel with burial following in Brooking Cemetery.
Richard was born August 22, 1936 in Princeton, MO to Claude & Ella Swan. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Richard retired from ABF Freight Systems as a Mechanic after 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer of various local golf courses, a loyal Chief’s & KC Royals fan and enjoyed NASCAR. Richard was a big family man and delighted in celebrating his winters in Brownsville, TX.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Claude Swan & a son, Rick Swan. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda of the home; a daughter, Diana Underhill (John) of St. Thomas, Ontario and two brothers, Bill Swan (Libby) of Lee’s Summit. MO & Gordon Swan (Karen) of KCMO.
