He spent part of his early childhood in Costa Rica before returning back to Kansas City, where he continued to grow up surrounded by the people, places, and passions that would shape his life.
From the very beginning, Taylor was around cars. Some of his earliest memories were made at the Weld factory, where he spent time in his youth surrounded by racing, cars, and the people who shared his passion. Racing was more than a hobby to Taylor, it was a part of who he was. He loved the thrill of it and sometimes that passion followed him off the track, getting him into a little trouble along the way. Those who knew Taylor knew that he lived life with that same intensity.
Taylor had a big heart and cared deeply for the people in his life. Above all else, Taylor adored his son, Ryder Weld. Ryder was incredibly important to him, and Taylor dreamed of passing his love of racing down to his son and sharing that passion with him.
He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Ricky Weld and Lisa Gibbons; his stepfather Michael Gibbons; and his grandparents Taylor “Pappy” Weld, Ella Weld, and Billy D. Templeton.
He is survived by his beloved son, Ryder Weld; his grandma, Louanah Templeton; his siblings, David Gibbons (Casey Gorham), Jason Weld, Lindsey Weld, and Laura Gibbons; and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
A graveside service will take place Monday, October 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at the Freedom Mausoleum.
