Mrs. Rita M. Peters

Rita M. Peters, 81, of Kansas City, MO passed away Friday, January 23, in Kansas City, MO. Rita was born May 25, 1933 to E. Bernier and Elodie (nee Guilbert) L’Arrivee in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada. She was married in Winnipeg, Manitoba to John H. Peters in 1954. They were partners in business as well as in life, most recently as owners of Shady Oaks RV Park near Warsaw, MO. In the years prior, she and John owned or operated restaurants in Missouri, South Carolina, and California, as well as a building specialty business in Alberta, Canada. Outgoing and energetic, Rita never knew a stranger, and this trait served her well in these operations, as well as her own employment in real estate, banking, and other customer service positions. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2012, her parents, two brothers, Jean Rene and Maurice L'Arrivee, and two sisters, Marie Kehler and Gail Hiebert. Rita is survived by two sisters, Lucille Caudill of Washington, and Therese Gobeil of British Columbia, two brothers, Gabriel L’Arrivee of Manitoba and Jon L'Arrivee of Washington; two sons and their spouses, Ron and Tonya Peters, and Carey and Joyce Peters, of Kansas City; three grandsons, Jason Peters and his wife, Megan, of Durham, NC, Brandon Peters and his wife Abby, of Portland, OR, and JohnPaul Peters of Kansas City. She also leaves behind many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates. Visitation will be 2 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 15, at D.W.
