Robert “Bob” Brown passed away peacefully in Castle Rock, Colorado on May 10, 2021. He was born in Butler, Missouri on November 23, 1929 to Roy Lee Brown and Frances Lorene Follis Brown. He graduated from Beaumont High School and went on to Central Methodist College to obtain a Bachelor of the Arts. He went to Perkins School of Theology at SMU where he achieved both Bachelor and Masters of Divinity degrees. Dr. Brown also received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Central Methodist. He earned a Doctor of the Ministry from SMU.
Bob served in the local Methodist Church in Appleton City, Missouri upon ordination. He then served as senior pastor Blue Ridge Boulevard Methodist Church in Raytown, Missouri. His last assignment was as senior pastor at Kirkwood United Methodist Church in Kirkwood, Missouri. He became the Director of Development at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. He was the president of the Missouri Colleges Fund, Vice President at Children’s Mercy Hospital, and President of Robert Brown and Associates. After retirement he was a Lancer for the Kansas City Royals.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Suzanne Duke Brown, and his son, Robert Craig Brown. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Swenson Brown; son, David Brown and his wife Jena; son, Mark Brown; four grandchildren, Kyle and Jason Brown, Andy and Julia Brown; great grandson Luke Brown and his sister Patricia Brown.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00AM Monday, May 24, at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO.
